The Great American Recipe from VPM and PBS is a new eight-part, uplifting cooking competition TV series that celebrates the multiculturalism that makes American food unique and iconic. In support of the show, VPM is featuring local chefs ​cooking their favorite recipes at farmers markets ​across Virginia.

9 AM COOKING DEMO - Chef Tassie Pippert, Host of Un-Wine’d will make her French grandfather’s famous oatmeal cookies. Sample them and hear her stories of deep roots in French culinary culture!

11 AM COOKING DEMO - Chef Mikey Reisenberg, Owner of Mashita will make his Kimchi Jjigae. Sample it and hear his stories of culture and heritage behind his recipes!


July 2nd - RVA Big Market

9 AM COOKING DEMO - Chef Will Leung-Richardson, Owner of Kudzu RVA will make Char Siu BBQ Pork with Reservoir Whiskey

11 AM COOKING DEMO - Chef Yeshi Demisse, Owner of The Nile will make her Doro Wat, an Ethiopian National dish. Sample the recipe and hear stories of how her culture inspired her flavors and techniques.
